DOING HIS BEST

Even though this has not been a vintage season for Sebastian Vettel, he has said that he will be doing his best when it comes to challenging for the title. The Spaniard and the Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso is the favourite to win the title this season. He currently leads the table by 40 points over the Red bull drivers Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel. With regard to the German, Fernando Alonso enjoys a 42 point advantage. The second half of the season will be beginning shortly and Sebastian Vettel has said that he is already looking to get closer to Fernando Alonso in the first few races in the second half of the campaign.

A number of mechanical failures have meant that Sebastian Vettel is not where he would like to be in the table. The last two races especially have been extremely tough on the German, but he reckons that the team has done enough work in the summer break in order to be competitive once the season resumes with the Belgian Grand Prix. The 25-year-old Sebastian Vettel was absolutely unstoppable last season, but he has endured a tough season this time around. He is separated from his teammate Mark Webber by just two points.

“The one who is leading is always the one that everyone is after. I think he’s in a good position but we still have a lot of races to go. I think it’s a better championship in that regard; to be able to catch up rather than if you have only two cars that work properly and the first four are always given. I think the way the racing has been this year, you can catch up points pretty quickly. Everything was fine until I became competitive and started to fight with Michael,” said Sebastian Vettel.

Sebastian Vettel is frustrated with himself

Red Bull Racing driver and double world champion Sebastian Vettel is extremely frustrated with his performances so far this season. The young German admitted that he was not satisfied after his fourth place finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix at Hungaroring last weekend. Vettel caught himself in the cross fire of absolutely sensational driving last Sunday at the Hungaroring when McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton and Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen went head to head for the title and Hamilton managed to hold on to his lead in the end with Raikkonen coming in second and Romain Grosjean, the other Lotus driver taking the last podium place.

And Sebastian Vettel, who is currently placed in third position of the Drivers’ Championship standings with 122 points, is now just five points ahead of Lewis Hamilton as the Briton looks to mount a serious challenge for the title. Vettel is just 2 points behind Mark Webber, his team mate at Red Bull Racing who is still 40 points behind Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who holds the sway in the Drivers’ Championship.

With Formula 1 going into a summer break, it gives the 24 year old the chance to address the problems that have been plaguing him. And if he can make a comeback in the second half of the season, he will fondly look back at this fourth place finish at the Hungaroring as the place where the turnaround started. But it all depends on how he looks at the races from now on.

Sebastian Vettel believes that both he and his team need to work hard to mount a successful comeback when the sport resumes after the break and is already looking at the Belgium Grand Prix as a race that can make or break the season for both him and Red Bull Racing.
