Nick Heidfeld suffers a disappointing crash but manage to escape unscathed

The German Formula One driver, Nick Heidfeld is currently competing in the Formula E championship. He has been associated with teams like Prost, Sauber, Jordan and Williams during his Formula One career but he failed to win a single race since his debut in 2000. His final stint with Renault ended in 2011 and since then he has been looking for other options whereby he could practice his sport. The new Formula E racing has suited his style and he has taken to his job with a lot of enthusiasm. However the hazards of the sport never leave the drivers even at an experienced age.

Nick Heidfeld had a narrow escape in the latest race that he participated in Beijing. The collision with Nicolas Prost sent his car flying and crashed against heavy barriers. The team members and fans were shocked to witness the incident but Nick somehow managed to escape without any major damage. He ran to Prost after this incident and there was a fall out between the two. Prost can be under investigation after this incident. Nick Heidfeld felt that it was an intentional nudge but Prost refused to agree. It was only after a day that Prost issued a statement saying that he felt himself responsible for the incident and was ready to pay the fine. The crash however proved fruitful for Brazilian De Grassi who picked up an unexpected win. Frank Montagny and Sam Bird were the other two drivers who managed to finish in the top three. It was a disappointing race for Bruno Senna as well as he failed to record a lap in qualifying due to some technical problems. Formula E is gaining enough popularity as the days go by and the competition among the drivers is only going to intensify in the recent future.

Lewis Hamilton – Nico Rosberg rivalry good for Mercedes F1, says Toto Wolff

Lewis Hamilton – Nico Rosberg rivalry good for Mercedes F1, says Toto Wolff

Toto Wolff, the co-team boss of Formula One giants Mercedes F1 has claimed that he does not believe the intensity of the rivalry between the team’s two drivers, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton will hurt the team’s chances of success.

Both the drivers are in contention for the Formula One Drivers’ Championship with the German leading the Englishman by a paltry eleven points and according to Wolff, the relationship has functioned very well until now.

On being asked whether a situation could arise where it would be difficult for the team to handle, Wolff said that it could but he doesn’t see that happening, at least not between these two drivers who are definitely competitive on the race track but are all in on the team’s cause off it.

Things could have gone out of hand at the Hungarian Grand Prix when Lewis Hamilton refused an order from the team to allow Rosberg to pass as he thought it would harm his chances of claiming the world title.

Wolff added that the two drivers push each other to the limit in a manner that would not hurt the team’s chances and that is something that should happen in all the Formula One teams. He also added that the rivalry could get even more heated with the business end of the season fast approaching.

However, Wolff believes that if the team can carry on in the same manner that they are doing now, it will only be between the two drivers to fight it out for the Formula One Drivers’’ Championship at the end of the season.

Wolff also added that the team would consider a rethink of their strategies after the controversy surrounding Lewis Hamilton at Hungary but it is still not certain whether the German team has already made a decision.
