Sebastian Vettel is a professional race car driver from Germany who is currently plying his trade with the Red Bull Racing team in Formula 1. Vettel entered motorsports folklore when he won the Formula 1 world championship for the 2010 season, thereby becoming the youngest Formula 1 world champion ever. Vettel was born on the 3rd of July, 1987 in the Heppenheim region of erstwhile West Germany. Vettel has mentioned in interviews that as a kid, he used to look up to the three Michaels as his heroes – Michael Schumacher, Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan. He wanted to be a singer in his younger days but according to him, he quickly realized that he did not have the voice to be a good singer and so he shifted his career to motorsport.

Sebastian Vettel began go karting in 1995 as an eight year old and he won trophies aplenty including the highly prestigious Junior Monaco Kart Cup in 2001. After upgrading to open wheel cars in 2003, Vettel raced to 18 victories in 20 races in the German Formula BMW Championship on his way to the championship. He drove in the Formula Three Euro Series in 2005 and was placed 5th in the overall standings at the end of the season with a total of 64 points that earned him the Rookie of the Year Award. As a reward for his victories in the German Formula BMW series, he was given the opportunity by Williams to test drive their Formula 1 car and he was also on the test driving circuit for the BMW Sauber team. In the 2006 Euro Series F3 championships, he finished second behind his team mate and he also took to driving in the World Series by Renault in 2006, where he won the title after the winning driver got disqualified. He competed at the World Series by Renault again in 2007 after which, he permanently moved to race in the Formula 1 circuit.

Sebastian Vettel was announced as the official third driver for BMW Sauber for the 2007 season but after injuries sustained by their driver Robert Kubica, he was given a driving seat and he made the most of this unexpected opportunity given to him. He moved to Toro Rosso in 2007 but was moved on to Red Bull Racing in 2009. In his first season, he was second to Lewis Hamilton but ultimately claimed the world title in 2010 and has already been crowned the champion for the 2011 season.
