Sebastian Vettel‘s Performance At The Austrian Grand Prix

The Austrian Grand Prix, which was held on Sunday, did end up well for Sebastian Vettel. Vettel finished in 3rd from 6th place. The Ferrari champion went down from P3 to P6 to impede Carlo Sainz and had mixed feelings after completion of the race. Vettel said that they had the best car with the best place as he came home with only 3.5s behind Max Verstappen and 1.6s behind Kimi Raikkonen. They were far off after 1st lap and managed to recover well in time. He was quite happy with the podium and it was indeed a great race. However, he felt that more could have been done; hence he had mixed feelings about the race.

He fought his battle with the Haas and the Renaults towards the initial stage of the race, but did lose a bit of ground and at the stop. The pace and tire management was good, but it could have been even better is what Vettel felt. Vettel passed Hamilton on track before he assumed that he was in third place when Daniel Ricciardo did pit for the 2nd time. Vettel said he made an attempt to hunt down both Verstappen and Raikkonen. Kimi pushed hard as much as he could and Vettel equally pushed hard, but could not catch enough. Vettel was further back in 1st lap and lost with pit stop. In spite of going through this tough time, he was happy that they raced with good speed and he truly felt that Max Verstappen gave his best and won the much deserved race.

Vettel tried every bit to come back, but he had more than 50 laps to finish on the same tires. He had mixed feelings despite not winning the title. He was truly impressed with the performance given by Verstappen and said he deserved to win the Austrian Grand Prix.
